Ideal for younger students this fully guided one day history tour will visit the site of the decisive battle of the Civil War.
Near Naseby in Northamptonshire the Roundhead army routed the Royalists, leading to Parliament’s final victory and placing King Charles I in a position from which he would never regain the trust of his people – a situation which would eventually lead to his execution and Britain’s brief experiment with republicanism.
With your expert guide the group will explore the ground on which the battle was fought, covering the background to the battle, plus the tactics and weapons used, in addition to hearing the story of the day as it unfolded. There will also be an opportunity to meet an historical interpreter, handling uniforms and equipment of the types used during the Civil War, as the group learns about the everyday life of the ordinary Civil War soldier.
It is possible to adapt this tour to meet the requirements of the new GCSE specifications from September 2016.
