Over 2,000 years ago male Athenians would gather on the Pnyx hill to voice their opinions. From the city’s finances to its food supplies, its legislation to military matters, policy was decided by the majority with a show of hands determining the course of action. This was the birth of European democracy.
Our tours to Greece are designed specifically to afford students of Ancient History and Classics an opportunity to further their understanding of Ancient Greek history and culture, and to develop a real appreciation of the impact they had on the wider world.
Each tour combines the opportunity to explore Athens, birthplace of democracy and home to the Acropolis, described by UNESCO as ‘the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world’ with visits outside the city to sites such as Sounion and the battlefield of Marathon.
For those looking to spend a little longer in the country and wanting to explore wider Hellenic culture we would be delighted to include tours to the sanctuary of Delphi and the city of Olympia.
Just to let you know that our trip
was AMAZING. The students
loved every bit of it and, in
particular…our guide. He engaged
the students, was incredibly
knowledgeable and an absolute
laugh. The hostel was fabulous
and very comfortable. In fact the
trip was perfect.
