Waterloo

Wellington at Waterloo by Robert Alexander Hillingford

Get Quote Get Quote

The Battle of Waterloo was a turning point in modern European history and one of the largest land battles ever fought on European soil. For the first time the Emperor Napoleon cast his military brilliance directly against the tactical skill and determination of the Duke of Wellington. The result was stunning.

In a single afternoon Imperial France’s aspirations for European domination were dashed, leaving around 40,000 casualties on a field barely a mile across and three miles wide. Given its location twelve miles south of Brussels, it is possible to visit the battlefield of Waterloo comfortably in two days from the UK.

It is also possible to extend the tour to cover other sites connected with the Waterloo campaign – Quatre Bras, Ligny and Wavre – or to combine the tour with a visit to Paris to explore the themes of Napoleonic France.
