Private Peaceful
Michael Morpurgo's hugely successful novel which tells the moving story of Thomas Peaceful has become a popular way of delivering the topic of the Great War to younger pupils.
Anglia's landmark tour traces the story of the characters in Morpurgo's book, exploring the issues of life and conditions in the trenches around Ypres and the controversial subject of British military executions.
Highlights of the tour include visits to the Death Cells and Firing Posts in Poperinghe and to the headstone of the real Private Thomas Samuel Peacefull (as it should have been spelled), buried in Bedford House which Michael Morpurgo used as the inspiration for his book.
