City of London

View of St PaulsLondon Walking Tours/City of London Walks in conjunction with Square Route Walks, Anglia Tours is delighted to offer guided walking tours of the City of London. More than almost any city in the world, London offers a rich tapestry of history stretching back centuries, as one of the commercial and political capitals of the world, with a wealth of churches, architecture and stories going back to Roman times.

Square Route Walks offer a complete range of City walks that are usually up to two hours in duration. It is possible to combine two walks with a lunch stop in between. Schools can choose from the extensive range outlined below, or we can mix and match to meet your specific requirements. In addition you can combine one of our walking tours with a visit to one of London’s many attractions in building a cross-curricular tour.

All Square Route guides are fully qualified and have passed the rigorous City University Guiding Course. They are highly experienced, and trained to bring the City of London’s history alive in a most fascinating and amusing way.

These tours can be combined with a visit to another of London’s many attractions, such as the Tower of London, London Dungeon or Imperial War Museum including:

Home Front

The Home Front 2010 sees the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, and ANGLIA is pleased to mark this landmark occasion by focusing on the heroic efforts of ‘the few’. Between July and October 1940 the RAF fought off waves of attacks by the Luftwaffe, despite being heavily outnumbered. Their hard-fought victory saw the postponement of Hitler’s Operation Sealion, the planned invasion of Britain, and the fateful switch of focus east to the Soviet Union.

For students studying the Second World War, or Britain at War, ANGLIA can combine a walking tour of London, visiting sites connected to the Blitz with a visit to the Cabinet War Rooms, Winston Churchill's Britain at War Experience or the Imperial War Museum.

For those interested in Britain’s wider role in the Second World War, ANGLIA can arrange tours in the UK examining the role of the Royal Navy and the Fleet Air Arm.

Visits can include HMS Belfast, Chatham and Portsmouth Historic Dockyards, and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton.

Crime Punishment & Policing - Jack the Ripper

Our most popular walking tour! Few murderers in history have achieved the notoriety of Jack the Ripper. This walk will take you through the streets where he stalked and brutally murdered his victims – and maybe we will even tell you who he actually was…

This tour can be combined with a visit to the London Dungeon or another of London’s top attractions. Contact us for more information about this tour.
